Watercolor Wash with Touches of Texture

Today I wanted to experiment with the watercolor wash technique.

It was actually very simple. I have seen it done a few different ways, some do embossing with Versa Mark & clear powder before doing the water color & others have done it after.  On this card I did not do any embossing.  I did the watercolor first, then stamped with black ink after.

Although you can use watercolor paper to do this, I used the Shimmer White.  It's not as heavy, but you are not using that much water for this technique.

1.  With your watercolor brush squeeze water to the tip & paint it on the paper in the area you would like to have ink. It does not need to be over the entire piece unless you want it that way.

2.  Then dip your brush into the Mint Macaron & paint it on.  Do this with Island Indigo, Sweet Sugarplum & Crushed Curry.  Be careful with the Island Indigo, it can be a little dark.

3.  Then take the large splatter stamp & Island Indigo ink, stamp off once spritz with Mint Macaron, & stamp randomly.

4. With the long narrow splatter stamp with Sweet Sugarplum, stamping off first.

5.  Set aside to dry, or dry with embossing gun.

6.  Stamp flower bouquet with Archival Black.

7.  I also stamped the edges of the Sweet Sugarplum & the Island Indigo with the long narrow splatter stamp.

8. I embossed the Basic Black with the Sparkle embossing folder.

9. Assemble & add bling!

I am also posting this on The Paper Players challenge for this week.
